Building :- The Institute has its own
building complex spread over, on 5 acres of
land, consisting of Lecture Rooms, Drawing
Halls, Staff Rooms,Laboratories, Library
Administrative Office, etc. Sufficient,
spacious , and well ventilated Front Main
Block is two storied, Rear main Block is 3
storied. Some laboratories are housed in
single story blocks. |

Institute is having an excellant Library
facilities, in having a reading room, a
large book section, equipped with text &
reference books, and a magzine section
having magzines, journals and periodicals.
Updating and expansion of book section is an
essential annual feature. |

2. Canteen :- A canteen in which
refreshments are available for both the
staff & students, flourishes within the
Institute premises on reasonable rates. |

3. Medical Care :- The Central
workshop and the Main Administrative Office
are provided with Kits for first aid.A
dispensary having the first aid facility
along with the emergency and elementary
medicines. |

4. Games Facility :- A play ground by
the side of the Institute premises is
available as a multipurpose play ground. |

5. Student Activities:- Every effort
is made to encourege healthy curricular
activitites by the students, Viz-debates,
quize contests, Seminars, games & sport,
technical for a dramatics etc. Dean of
student Welfare Coordinates these students
activities and sports room, equiped with
Carrom Boards, Chess Boards, and ping pong
table.
Playing material like, T.T. bats and bells,
Badminton rackets, Foot ball, volly ball net
and cricket Kit. |

6. Transportation :- The Institute being on
the Main Jammu-R.S.Pura Road is very well
connected & is approachable by frequent
public transport systems from all parts of
the city. |

7. Books, Stationery & Hand Tools :-
A Student store, within the Institute
premises, provides, text books, stationery
item, drawing board & instruments and handy
tool kits for use in electrical &
electronics labs. All students are advised
to have provision of Rs. 1200/- to Rs.
1500/- for purchase of such items at the
time of admission it self on no profit no
loss basis. |

8. Educational Visits & Project work :-
Study tours to places of technical interest
& Industries, as the case may be, are
arranged by the Institute. Students bear the
cost of such tours, excepts the staff, that
accompanies them is financed by the
Institute.
NITS is strongly wedded to the concept of
relevant & practice oriented education to
meet the rapidly changing needs & challenges
of Industrial environment and & technology
advancements.
Such Study tours expose the students to real
life situations, besides enlarging their
vision about the present day Industry’s
size, & scope of expansion & its rate.
They also learn about the variety of
manufacturing equipment & testing equipments
which the Institutes normally do not afford
due to their high costs.
The project work to final year Diploma
students in various discipline is given on
live, present & relevant topics in
consultation with surrounding Industries,
with a view to invide & involve Industries
in our educational system.
This also introduce our student to
industries which lead to their better
prospects of employment. |

9. Earn while you learn :- The
Institute, for the benefit of the needy
students, has launched this “Earn while you
learn” scheme. Institute offers part time
jobs such as tutorial work, Library and
office assistance etc. To the students. For
this part time work they are paid suitable
stipends.
Thus this scheme gives them the opportunity
to finance & sustain their studies apart
from work experience and training. |

10. Merit Scholarship :- Merit
scholarship is an annual feature and given
to students who top the state boards
examinations. |

11. Hostel :- The Institute owns a
big piece of land behind the Main rear
block, where it is proposed to construct a
student Hostel in immediate future. As
present limited hostel facilities are
available for boys & girls. |
